Martin and Claire Fisher's Safari Testimonial

In May 2010 Claire and I decided to combine a safari holiday in Uganda with a visit to Claire?s daughter Jess who is working there.  Jess put us in contact with Paul from Terrain Safaris (she and a group of friends had been away for several fabulous days with him before) and together we formulated an itinerary.  We wanted to combine a conventional savanna game viewing trip with visits to a rain forest & a wet-land reserve, with an emphasis on bird-watching.

Paul proved to be the perfect choice as a guide, sharing his extensive knowledge of Uganda`s fauna and with an eagle-eyed ability to spot elusive wildlife hiding in the undergrowth.  His enthusiasm for this trip matched our own and we hugely enjoyed his company.  We covered quite long distances on some very rough roads and Paul?s driving was superb (Claire is not a good passenger but in no time she was standing up, without a seatbelt on, enjoying the scenery etc).   Highlights of the trip for us were the game drives on the Ishasha Plains, the boat trip along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, encountering the chimpanzees in Kibale forest & seeing a Shoebill from a dugout canoe in the Mabamba swamp.

We would recommend Terrain Safaris to anyone interested in a Ugandan wildlife viewing holiday. The Bradt guide to Uganda and the Helm Field Guide to Birds of East Africa were both invaluable but most of all, Paul, made this trip a holiday of a life time.  If you are planning a trip to Uganda, contact Paul, let him know what you want to do and he will arrange it - easy.

Didn't w have a great holiday ? We did!
